About the Studentship – The research interest of the hosting laboratory is investigating different aspects of molecular mechanisms of cancer and diabetes with special focus on drug discovery. The available positions are for enthusiastic, ambitious, and hard‐working PhD candidates with strong background in cellular and molecular biology as well as biochemistry.
About United Arab Emirates University – United Arab Emirates University is the first and foremost comprehensive national university in the United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1976 by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAEU aspires to become a comprehensive, research-intensive university and currently enrolls approximately 14,968 Emirati and international students.
Eligibility Criteria – Candidates for these positions should have a master’s degree (or a bachelor’s
degree with a high GPA) in a relevant field and be accepted into the UAEU PhD program in Cellular and
Molecular Biology, COS. The requirements to be accepted to the UAEU PhD program are:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4 with MSc or a minimum GPA of 3.7 with BSc
- A minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
- Two letters of recommendation, one of them from master’s advisor.
Studentship amount – Accepted PhD candidate may be supported by the UAE University for 4 years with a full tuition fee waiver, and health insurance. Competitive stipends of about 5,000 AED/ month may also be provided.
