Why is Australia a great place for Pharmacists?
Before we answer this question, let me tell you an interesting fact: according to a United Nations report, more than 70 crores (700 million people) are in the 65+ age bracket around the world! This number is going to cross 150 (1.5 billion) in the next 30 years.
But what does this mean? It means all those people who are crossing a certain age (say 50 years) are going to need a lot more care than the young people would need. And to provide the care for that big a population countries need doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
In general, most of the OECD countries (countries with very high income & human development index) are already dependent on importing healthcare professionals from countries such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Egypt, etc. Because of high demand & high living standard the salaries of pharmacists are very high.

Let’s look at why Australia is a great place to move and become a pharmacist there.
The Australian government says pharmacy job openings are expected to grow strongly – After COVID’19, the demand for pharmacists has skyrocketed in Australia. As per Australian government’s labour market insight, the demand of pharmacists is set to grow by 9%. This projection makes it one of the strongest growing jobs in Australia.
As a pharmacist you make a LOT of money – As per Australian government, the median pay of pharmacists is about 25% more than the median pay of any other jobs. The median salary is about ~4,30,000 (4.3 lacs) per month! This is close to ~52,00,000 (52 lacs) yearly salary. Some lucky pharmacists (close to 25% pharmacists) end up making ~71,00,000 in a year. To make this kind of money in India (or in the Indian subcontinent), you may have to work for more than 20 years in your job or build your own pharmacy business.

And you get a great lifestyle & get the respect you deserve – Pharmacy is among one of most trusted professions. And you get the respect that you deserve. No one needs to tell you how MRs are treated by doctors & hospitals in India and what kind of salary they receive.
Australia is a developed country with merely a 2.6 crore population as per 2023 (whereas Delhi alone has a population of 3.3 crores). You have great cities, beaches and places to visit and celebrate life. As a developed country, Australia has great employment opportunities, a great education system, a great law & order, and diverse culture among many other things to offer.
